I have a friend who is very unsettled in her life. We all know many people like this. She seems to live two lives. In one life she lives where she must do what others and an overriding religion tells her to do and in another where she lives a life of what she wants it to be. She is one of the funnest people I know. She brings sunshine so easily to others, but secretly she lives restrained and confined with shackles based on what she thinks she ought to do. She is happy, but troubled. She is so loving, but fearful. She is in conflict and up in her head more than she even understands. She doesn’t have to live this way, but like many, she has always been like this and may not know she can live without this conflict. Maybe it becomes ingrained as a normal way of living from our childhood circumstances or the way we were raised and told not to question. often, we are taught to live in ways those teaching us are living. They don’t know there can be a better way.
So many of us live double lives where we are not free. We have some happiness, but there is often a war going on inside. Freedom and Joy and Gratitude are the highest of vibrations we are to ascend to. Feeling any different with lower level emotions can guide us up the ladder toward a level of being that is fun and beautiful and a better quality of life. I’m fortunate enough to be able to live as an adult with a childlike sense of Freedom and Joy for the most part. Do you remember when your only responsibility was to show up for school, to do well, to play and then wake up and do it all over again? I live that way mostly now and I’m so fortunate. It is the life I made and choose. This isn’t the way it always has been for me though. In this lifetime, I have had many chapters in my book of life where I was up in my head all the time like my sweet friend I described. I was so unsettled. I was unhappy and felt stuck and not able to move to where I wanted to be. Even worse, I didn’t know I could be in a place of Peace and Freedom. Currently, my work is good. My life is good. My health is good. I live mostly debt free and have what I need. There are things that I could probably worry about or be anxious for or generally unhappy about, but I don’t choose to put my thoughts there. I know what a peaceful and joyful life can be. I trust the Universe and I relinquish control by knowing I will land on my feet. I definitely have my days of struggle. Even times where I don’t know why I feel less than happy, but when the dust settles I am pointed toward why I am having difficulty and how to move into Peace, Freedom and Joy.
Being present is essential to happiness. When your head is worried or anxious and your thoughts are scattered because of you being unsettled, then there isn’t the joy of childhood. When you live contrary to your desires, then it is unsettling. The ground you stand on is shaky like being in an earthquake or on a poorly made bridge. Living a life that is open and free is the only way to be truly happy. Making your own choices, not hiding, living your life like you want to live it regardless of what others think is the only way to be in this life you have now. You must decide what your own values are and live in accordance to them. You have to make the choices you want to make in life without the fear of disappointing others. You are to live this life for yourself. Remember, selfishness is when others are telling you how to live. Self-love is when you are choosing to live how you want to live without worrying about how you will be seen by others. You must decide to live by your own choices and Truth. You are not to live by what you’ve been told to do when that doesn’t make sense to you or even a life that you have been convinced to live that doesn’t feel right and harmonious. We may not even know how to live beyond our brainwashing, but our low vibration emotions like unhappiness can give us an indicator that things aren’t right.
Being present is important for being childlike. We’ve even seen young children who aren’t present and they can’t be a child because they are worried or anxious. Their environment or culture has riddled them with confusion and an unsettled energy. Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven or God depending on the translation, belongs to children and those with the humility of a child. What does this mean? He said the Kingdom of Heaven/God is within us. When we think of a child in the positive aspects rather than the immature ones, we think of the purity and unassuming and clear way they live. They are hopeful. They can be very happy and in the moment at times even if they have a difficult environment and culture where they are living. This is amazing that we can also call on this skill and use it in our daily lives.
I know so many adults that are overwhelmed with life’s pressures and cannot stop trying to control them. A child doesn’t use control because they know they have very little power over people inflicting difficulty upon them or situations like any form of poverty – the poverty of money or love or kindness or whatever. When an opportunity for play or fun or laughing arises, they can be in that moment even for just a minute. Being present for even a moment can bring perspective and Joy. Finding the humility of knowing we don’t have the power to control, but knowing things will always work out is a high level skill. This is trusting the Universe or trusting God. Life brings us exactly what we need for achieving that vibration of Happiness and Peace and Freedom. Our obstacles and lower vibration emotions can take us to level of achievement to overcome the adversity and sadness we don’t have to live with.
Being able to recognize our conflict, make choices to move out of conflict, knowing we are worthy of Joy and Freedom and knowing we can live in Peace all help us to have the happiness we desire. When we do this we can have Gratitude based on the contrast we then know because we have lived with both. I have so much thankfulness and gratitude because I have had chapters in my book that included both ends of this spectrum … living in sadness and conflict and living in Joy and Peace.
Is this new for you where you didn’t know you can live freely and joyfully and make a choice to live in that place? What are the ways that you can move forward without fear? Do you live in fear of what others will think or the judgment of a punishing God? God is only Love. There isn’t wrath and punishment, but rather Karma where you can be gently guided or pushed to a place we are to ascend to. We are in our choice at all times. We can choose this very second in life to turn everything around. How do you turn your life around when you are in times of conflict and strife? How do you break a cycle of thought where we live without the Joy we desire? What are the choices you make?
