Sensuality

·

Sensuality seems to carry the connotation in our culture today as an overindulgence of pleasure seeking. Obviously, it is integrating the senses in some form. I give sensuality a different perspective. I see sensuality as the integration of all our senses for our overall benefit as a human. Sensuality is the awareness of our biological systems used by us for gathering information about our surroundings through the detection of stimuli. It is the recognition of sensation. There is nothing wrong with being sensual, in fact our senses are tools for us to stay safe and for pleasure. When we are hungry and thirsty, we must eat and drink to stay alive and strong. We can taste danger with our mouths or know that something is very good with our tasting abilities. When we smell smoke, we are aware there is a fire nearby. When we hear an alarm or siren, we must pay attention that there is a prompt we must listen to. Our eyes are for us to process what we see. Our touch can detect heat or cold.
Our senses are used for many things. There is nothing wrong with having pleasure. All of our senses can help us to enjoy something. Balance is necessary in all things and certainly useful for our senses. We cannot overly indulge in pleasure and in contrast we cannot overly indulge in pain or even have an overly strong awareness for being safe. Our senses are to guide us to the highest vibrations of Joy and Freedom and Love. We can be empowered by our senses. We can have appreciation for what we see or touch or hear or smell or taste.
I have been riffing with a best friend about the abilities of our senses to take us back to a former time. How often have you heard a song that reminds you of a specific time and place? How often do you smell a fragrance or taste a food that can do the same thing with causing you to remember exactly where you were many years ago as if you are there again? Our senses are amazing with the power to do exactly those things. It works with our neurological systems to give us a memory that is beyond relevant and realistic. Our brains are very sensual. This ability to take us to an exact moment in time from our past where we can feel exactly as we did whether that be pleasure or pain can give us amazing contrast. It’s contrast that gives us perspective for change. We can be overjoyed at where we are on our journey from the contrast of past situations. We can be reminded of where we want to still go on our Path from contrast. We can have fond thoughts of the beauty of a time from the senses remembering a point in our lives. Our senses are here for us to enjoy and learn from and be a barometer for growth. They are given to us for safety and pleasure.
We are to live a sensual life. We are to use our senses for pleasure and as a guide to move us up the ladder of vibration to Joy and Love and Freedom. We are to see a beautiful landscape and be in wonder of creation. We are to have awe from our senses. We are to touch and taste beauty. We are here to feel. Feel our feelings and tasting what life has to offer. We are to wake up and smell the coffee. We are to hear the music that brings us unbridled Joy since we ourselves and music are vibration. Our senses are a gift to guide, heal, teach and entertain. We can without pause delve into our sensuality, however with the balance to not wear something out. The balance is about the contrast of a spectrum. How can we appreciate one end of a spectrum without the awareness of the opposite end?
It is wonderful to celebrate sensuality. I want to use the gift of my senses to push me toward the goal of perfect Wisdom and unconditional Love. We have contrast to thank. We have our sensual gifts to love and use for our own good and the good of others. We can praise and thank our Creator for these gifts.
Today, I am consciously aware of how our world and our brains can be sensual. I will indulge with balance my senses in adoration for the Spirit of our world who gave us these powerful gifts. How are you using your senses? How is your life juicy with sensuality?
