Develop Your Own Beliefs and Moral Code

I have been reminded of a few things recently. It is how the Christian church wants to own Jesus. It is as if their name “Christian” has a patent and ownership of this Perfect soul. If someone outside our prescribed industrialized man-made religion claims to also love this being, they are out of bounds. I think of how beautifully Paramahansa Yogananda blended perfectly his love for Jesus and Eastern Philosophy. If you love Jesus, then you must be a Christian is the church view. I dispute this highly, obviously, since I am writing about it. The Christian religion is flawed and full of dogma. Any religion has been created to be a control mechanism for a society although initially intended not to be. You have to do it this way or else is what is said. Not living your life according to the authorities dictates will cause you to literally burn in Hell for eternity. All of us adopting the same behavior is insane given we are all so different in our make up and in our experience. We are not robots satisfying a checklist. This has to be offensive to everyone including those brainwashed by the dogma. We all have different tastes. A religion is very much like a dictatorship. Our Nation will have only one ice cream flavor we have authorized as the true ice cream. So too, a religion says this is the only way. When Jesus said, “I am the Way”, we have to understand that he was embodying the Christ Consciousness like the many Buddhas or Swamis or whomever. Christians cannot own Jesus.

I have been doing bodywork and energy healing for about 10 years now. This is viewed so strangely by every person, as we all have a unique perspective based on our experience on this Earth in this lifetime and all of our past lives. Nothing is truly objective, like we never get the same story from every onlooker of an event. If someone robs a bank, each person will describe that person differently. The Bible speaks often of the laying on of hands from Jacob to Moses to Jesus and the apostles. I was raised in an evangelical Christian church. “Laying on of hands” was rarely seen. You would see faith healers do such things. I do remember one time as I was going to embark on a journey to go to another state and study the Bible at a school. At this school, we studied only the Bible everyday for 5 or so hours. Anyway, before I left about 20 men came and placed their hands on my back and arms as I knelt. I can say right now that I have probably never had such a rush of energy. It was exhilarating and palpable. It was like I had a charge of electricity flowing throughout my body in such a good way. Well, I have hardly ever heard the Christian church adopt this practice via energy healing or even in this way. The thing is Jesus did energy work. He laid his hands on others when he healed them. Energy work via touch is mentioned exhaustively in both the Old and New Testaments particularly for healing, blessing, commissioning, and empowerment.

Meditation is also not spoken of in the current Christian church with the gravitas that it should. Meditation was rationalized so much in my experience as a churchgoing Christian. It was just maybe memorizing or pondering for a moment which isn’t bad. The word meditation was very rarely mentioned unless there was a Bible verse that spoke of the word. Memorization is so similar to mantras or chanting. Those verses can be spoken aloud to imprint them into our heart and make a vibration. Christians can’t seem adopt the word chanting. That is for the people who are going to Hell because they have not verbally said they have asked Jesus into their heart … like Hindus or Buddhists. Meditation is most known in Eastern Philosophy. Even Buddhism doesn’t call itself a religion, but rather a philosophy. It even says that too much Buddhism is a dogma and wrong. I am not putting Christianity down. I believe there are flaws in Buddhism in my view. We are to choose our own way from what resonates with us from our varied experience. Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years across various cultures,. The origins can be traced back to several key traditions. Hinduism (1500 BCE), Buddhism (600 BCE), yoga (400 BCE), Taoism (400 BCE), Stoicism and Neoplatonism, Early Christianity, Sufism which is Mystical Islam (700 CE) and other Shamanic Practices throughout time. Meditation is beyond boundaries and there are many ways of focusing and emptying the mind. Meditation can involve breath work as well, but never is that mentioned in the Bible. The Bible does highlight how breath is intimately connected to life and God’s power. Focusing on one’s breath is a way of aligning oneself with God’s presence and life-giving Spirit. Our breath is to be viewed as a tool for spiritual connection, reflection, and renewal. The concept of mediation is part of the Bible and I call for organized religion to adopt and evangelize this prescribed behavior to achieve Oneness.

Another overlooked command in the Bible is fasting. Fasting is mentioned so many times in the Bible. Coupled with prayer, this is a major healing and alignment behavior. I have spoken about my views on fasting and not so coincidentally, I am in a 3.5 day fast this moment. Why doesn’t the contemporary Christian church tout this as a consistent practice for its parishioners? The church has been created into a dogma and a government. It is similar to how it chooses some books for the Bible and not others. Thankfully, no human can take the Divine Wisdom out of the words of the glorious book called the Bible. Fasting in the Bible is approached as a spiritual discipline aimed at deepening one’s relationship with God, humbling oneself, seeking God’s will and interceding via prayer on behalf of others. It is about denying food coupled with prayer and does not mention the health and healing benefits fasting offers, but it certainly was used in ancient times for this. Maybe that was an obvious that did not need noting, but emphasized the mystical use for Oneness with our Creator and others. Certainly, I have received focus and clarity when I fast. I have a unique energy where I feel like I am burning the cleanest fuel. It is not like I can run a marathon, in fact I have tried to play tennis when I was scheduled and ended up in a fast unexpectedly and it was disastrous. The ball was so easy to see and I hit so cleanly … for about 10 minutes and then totally blown out where I could hardly take a step. Tribes in prior times would not eat 3 meals a day. They may go days without a kill and maybe it was not the season for growing food. The hunters had keen awareness in their senses for feeding their tribe. We now understand the science of how fasting heals the body and unlocks the power of self-healing by killing zombie cells rather than having to work 24-7 on digestion. The church should be pushing fasting.

Lastly, what comes to mind is how Christians should be the BIGGEST environmentalists. Money and power trump our respect for our Earth. God’s creation is sacred. I do not want to go into a discourse about the relationship of Christianity and environmentalism, but I will say love, respect and care for our planet is referenced so many times in the Old and New Testament. Though the Bible does not use the term “environmentalism”, its teachings emphasize a theological mandate for responsible stewardship of the Earth and all its creatures. We should create a safe and sustainable world with humility and respect. Humans are entrusted by God to care for the Earth, respect animals, and promote balance within the natural world. This is like self-love. Our body is the temple of our soul and the Earth is the habitat of our existence. Environmental care is rooted in gratitude for God’s creation and the recognition that all things are made by the Source of Life and Love. Caring for the Earth and animals in a way that reflects God’s Perfect Love. Respect for creation is actually central to biblical teachings. I find it totally ironic that Atheists are the biggest supporters of environmentalism and animal rights. As stewards of our beautiful perfect Earth, Christians are called to protect and sustain the environment, to treat animals ethically, and to work towards the ultimate redemption of the world that God created via our Love for it. This perspective should be the foundation for modern-day environmental responsibility.

So, I am sure that it seems like I am railing on Christianity. I am not. I am just making the case for this overarching control structure rooted in Divine Wisdom to wake up to its own words. We can know Christ or Jesus outside of this religion and recognize the Christ Consciousness is not bound by an organization. We are all called to have this Divine Mind. We can disagree and have our own opinions. I believe that the Bible is an amazing book, but not the inerrant Word of God. It is revised and rewritten and controlled. I urge you to think outside the conventional dogma. Step out of the judgment of those you may respect and adopt your own perspective. Do not be fearful. The Bible speaks of not having fear 365 times supposedly, one for every day. Please don’t just take my words and viewpoint as Truth either. I am not touting the “only Way”. This is how I see it. Remember, these writings are not telling you what to do, but actually a transcript of my learning and I learn by writing as well.

You can use all of these concepts and behaviors regardless of a religion you follow or not. You can tap into the spiritual tools and techniques to have a Oneness with our Creator through energy healing, meditation, fasting and environmentalism without having to throw the baby out with the bathwater. We are all tainted in our perspectives because of our unique life experience. We are given the biggest gift of free will and Divine Wisdom. That Wisdom has been and continues to be passed down through so many ancient texts outside the Bible and via current channelings like “A Course in Miracles” or Paul Selig’s Guides or Abraham-Hicks or my medium who channels my Spirit Guide and Soul Family, etc…

I believe one of my main purposes here beyond having Joy and Happiness is to boldly and independently stand on my own. This is why I was born into the station of life that I was. I am thankful for the obstacles and trials I go through, even though they can be painful and provoking. These things have taught me about this purpose and how to approach any situation. Unconditional Love AND Acceptance/Allowance of all things for the greater purpose of the Oneness of our Earth is the essence of Divine living. I hope these words provoke a reaction from you like any art is to do. If you disagree … Great! If you are inspired … Great! If you do not want to come back to read more or really desire more info from this blog … Great! Just do something … just think for yourself without fear … just be and do and Love and Allow others to be and do. Love!
