When you went out for breakfast last time, did you see individual packs of jelly for your toast. When you go to a restaurant, do they give you individual size packs of ketchup? I think we have all been conditioned to accept these things as normal. We do not even question why they are in individual packs. Usually we use a few of these at once. Enough has been said about the environmental impact of throw-away plastics. We find plastic micro-particles in us, animals, plants and the earth. Plastics are bleeding into the products that they contain. I will not talk about this even though it is certainly very valid.
If you are older like myself, you may remember jars of condiments being on a table for accessing ketchup or jam or whatever. Those days are gone it seems. Probably, a company could be sued for unsanitary practices in some places for putting a whole jar on a table for multiple people to access.
I think individual ketchup packs and jelly packs are “evil” and when I say evil, it is without judgment, but just for emphasis. They are “bad” just from the environmental impact … they have to go somewhere like in the ground at a dump. I believe the individual packets are fear-based. Anything that’s fear-based isn’t right. It’s not love. Love and fear cannot coexist.
Why are these little packages fear-based? Well, I have this viewpoint that we have become germaphobes and sterility is over emphasized. Maybe it’s just a scenario, but if there was a jelly jar and a spoon in it, one may think who has used this spoon before? Was this person a pig? How do I know their hygiene habits or intentions? They may be “bad” people. Was the knife or spoon they used in the condiment jar dirty? Did they lick it or double dip? Was the utensil used dropped on the floor? The idea of using a fresh spoon and a jar of jelly still begs the question of whose spoon was in there before and how clean was it and what is the last person’s definition of clean? This is all fear. This is a fear that is unrealistic and causes stress. Before individual packs which came after plastics were created, a community condiment container wasn’t ever in question. Now. could this scenario actually happen with the unclean usage of a community jar? Of course it can, there are all kinds of crazy people in the world that don’t care about others. There are those that want to act out and harm others randomly and intentionally even, but those “bad” people are actually fairly rare. We have been conditioned by our media and what we view to be so suspicious. Remember, news is only interesting to people if there is scandal or if it is provocative in an extreme way. This is why we have helicopter parents hovering over their kids to make sure they are safe … I did this.
If someone did used a spoon that was dirty, is it going to kill you? Of course not. We even need a certain amount of bad bacteria to keep us healthy. The chances of poor usage of a community condiment would be incredibly rare. The majority of people would never do something like this to intentionally hurt others. It would go against their concepts of do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Even those that may not have a spiritual belief subscribe to this concept. Most people would feel that this is wrong to not be hygienic. Do we ever think about the bacteria in another person’s mouth when we kiss them?
So, now we have a whole industry of creating plastics that are thrown away. Who knows where they actually end up? If you burn them there’s noxious fumes. A big reason for this little packet phenomena is money. This is also an industry. There are people and an economy making BIG money. Although, I do not feel capitalism is wrong, it can also be fear-based. Stockpiling and having way more than we can use can be fear-based. Humans are addicted to fear and live in separation from each other. This is what we are taught for a supposed safety. We are suspicious of others based on perceived scarcity as we try and hold and control which is just irrational fear. We think that we are not united as One even though we share the same DNA and experiences. A banana shares 60% of our DNA. All things came from nothing and are essentially made from the same space dust with evolution doing the rest. What an amazing feat and plan! I do not want to live in fear. I want to live in Love which is the opposite of fear. Fear is just a lie we choose to believe. It isn’t real and when we do adopt it, it procreates and we have more and more fear. Consider today what is fear-based in your life.
Let’s return to jelly jars.
